My Son Caleb

I just had the most wonderful visit with my son, Caleb. I am way up high on a cloud right now. Caleb is 22 years old. He lives in a group home 20 minutes from my house. He is autistic, low-verbal, OCD, epileptic, and battles many fears, which lead to self-abusing, a host of other challenging behaviors, and a narrow life experience. So far, this sounds so positive and upbeat, right? I know, but tonight was amazing. On the way to Caleb's house, I prayed for some "Caleb smiles." My prayer was beautifully and quickly answered. I spent three hours enjoying Caleb's company and watching him smile. I got more than I prayed for as well. He was gentle, appropriately interactive, and seemingly unbothered by his regular fears--all thanks to God.

Anyone who resists prayer, a relationship with God, and the transforming power of His love, misses the greatest joys known to mankind. Each person has a right to choose his or her own beliefs. I choose to be fully alive and wrapped up in the love of my savior. This life rocks!
